‘He’s is the only kid in his year without a phone’: Chris Evans reveals his son Noah, 13, isn’t allowed a mobile because they ‘scare’ him

Chris Evans has revealed his 13-year-old Noah is banned from having a mobile phone admitting they ‘scare the s**t out of me’.

The radio DJ, 55, does not have a mobile of his own either believing it to have boosted his mental health by reducing his anxiety and making him a better dad.

Speaking to The Sun, he said he thought that getting rid of the technology made people more ‘present’ and that a phone was a ‘massive time thief’.

With his wife Natasha Shishmanian, Chris shares four children – Noah, Eli, nine, and three-year-old twins Walt and Boo – and none are allowed mobile devices.

He explained: ‘Noah is the only kid in his year without a phone. He turned 13 a couple of weeks ago so we discussed it, and got him a device and let him download Whatsapp. But then immediately something happened — there was a bump in the road — and he came off it. It’s like stopping drinking. You can always start again but you can never undrink what you’ve drunk.

‘Noah is different, and a better conversationalist for it. If you’re not on the phone as a kid, you’re a more present kid.’

He added that he felt children learned better from books than on their phones and that he was ‘happier without’.

In September last year, Chris seemingly ruled out having any more children with Natasha.

He told his Virgin Radio co-stars at the time: ‘I think that Tash is very secretly gearing up to become a yoga teacher.

‘I think now, this is the biggest heads-up that we’re not going to have any more children because obviously she’s not going to tell me either way!’

The DJ also has a daughter Jade, 34, with his former fiancée Alison Ward.

Chris and Natasha tied the knot in a romantic ceremony in Faro, Portugal, in August 2007 and they have been happily married ever since.

The broadcaster was previously married to pop princess turned acclaimed actress Billie Piper, 39, from May 2001 to September 2004.

Billie famously popped the question to Chris on his 35th birthday when she was the tender age of 18.

The former flames went onto tie the knot in a ceremony in Las Vegas at the time.

Prior to his union with the Because We Want To hitmaker, Chris was married to TV and radio personality Carol McGiffin, 61, from 1991 to 1994.
